Pros

Being a small part in supporting people to live a more independent life is extremely rewarding. If, and only if, you have a great supervisor, your day-to-day experience will be manageable. A significant factor in me choosing SCI was the bonus and incentive programs offered.

Cons

My overall confidence and pride in this organization continues to deteriorate. Leadership, specifically some Program Managers and VPs, are external hires with very minimal direct experience in the field. The overall attitude of the company since these hires (past 6-8 months), has taken a turn for the worst. Rather than prioritizing the needs of the people supported and finding ways to best support its staff, SCI’s focus has shifted to micromanaging employees and finding ways to retroactively disqualify them for bonuses and incentives. I know I am not alone in this sentiment - an organization I once loved has me seriously contemplating my future.

Pros

-Pay is decent. -Certain mileage is covered and certain travel is covered. -Training is paid. -Clients were very kind. -Management is professional and thorough.

Cons

-Clients can live 40-50 minutes away and still be within your area of responsibility. There isn't any mileage or time reimbursement for these clients. -Some time isn't paid for, i.e. checking and responding to emails. This wouldn't be a huge deal, except you will receive dozens and dozens of company-wide emails that have nothing to do with your role and that you will still have to triage to be sure you aren't missing anything that actually applies to you.
