Pros

I started in tech support while I was starting a computer science major and didn't know anything about programming, but I got the opportunity to help out with the software team and eventually made the switch complete and permanent. Sewell is flexible, very laid-back, and provides a great work environment.

Cons

Honestly, I don't really have anything negative to say about Sewell. It's a small company and you're part of a small team, no matter what you do, so sometimes your workload can pile up, but it's always manageable.

Pros

I love the people I work with and love the people I work for. The mangers are not only people I admire but people I respect. They recognize hard work and constantly work to make sure you have all the tools you need to succeed.

Cons

Hours are long, dealing with so many customers in a daily basis can be frustrating, and the general ups and downs of a job that is 100% commission are challenging.

Pros

I loved working at Sewell Direct. The people were great to work with, and I was given so much more than I had set out for in my initial job search. My goal was to hold a part-time job while going to school as a tech rep. I loved my job there, and was able to learn a lot about technology while also learning much about the inner workings of the business at all levels, as the company welcomes all employees to attend its strategy meetings to participate in discussing the most important issues in the company. The company transparency was a huge plus for me, and invaluable to my own experience and progression. After 6 months as a tech rep, I was promoted to department manager, which was a total surprise to me. I don't think that's typical by any means but it does illustrate the upward mobility at Sewell. There are several other high-level players in the company who likewise started in a support position, which tells the same story. People willing to work hard and contribute their talents to the company have a great opportunity to thrive there. The 401k is offered to all and the matching is generous (up to 6 percent!) The management is transparent and honest, politics and bureaucracy are avoided and discouraged, the company values good ideas, wherever they may come from, and rewards those who are willing to bring them about. The pay was stellar, more than I would have hoped. The only reason I left was because my family moved for my wife's education, it was hard to leave.

Cons

Growing pains in the company. Currently there are about 40 employees, and the company is trying to find its footing as a larger company. This really isn't a negative on the company, but depending on your position you may experience some of these issues. Although at same time there are great opportunities therein.
