Loved working here, hated how things ended

Pros

- great relationships within team - great relationships outside of team - encouraged to explore new ideas

Cons

The way I was released from employment with Sezzle was greatly mishandled. The reason for my release did not align with documented reviews, repeated spoken reviews of "how great it is to have you on the team," and the company-sponsored trip to HQ in Minnesota for the 2023 staff on-site, just days before my release. My manager didn't know my last day at Sezzle was my last day, I was informed by my manager's manager and the head of HR. Sezzlers I spoke with afterward were as blindsided as I was. All this to say, I suspect my release had nothing to do with the reason they told me, and more of a combination of needing to cut costs (having just gone public on the Nasdaq) and a culture of toxic loyalty to the man at the top.

High Expectations, Low Transparency

Pros

Easy laid-back work environment, Helpful people, conveying a polite and professional environment.

Cons

Upper management remains largely disconnected from the rest of the company, with a prominent “boys’ club” culture shaping executive roles. Scare tactics and unprofessional pressure are sometimes used to push employees to meet performance targets. While flexibility with PTO, family obligations, or personal time isn’t openly discouraged but taking advantage of it can quietly work against you—especially when payroll cuts become a focus. That said, as long as you consistently overperform, keep your salary modest, or are part of the executive circle, you can probably enjoy security in your role for some time.

Pros

Not much except for remote work.

Cons

-Toxic leadership -"We are a family" culture until we are not - Discriminating - No acknowledgement for good work done if you are not a part of the "family" -Leadership lacks the basic of leadership skills -HR works for the boss not employees
