The HR team is beginning to exodus

Pros

You’ll get to try things you haven’t done before

Cons

Teams are beginning a mass exit now that bonuses have been paid out. And many more are actively looking. Do not let this company gaslight you into thinking the reviews aren’t true. They are true. I know at least a dozen people experiencing mental health challenges or struggling with their physical health directly tied to the stress of this place. The leadership promotes “productive paranoia”, but it’s not productive at all. In the eyes of executives it may be, because then they wring employees out with 12+ hour workdays. But for the people doing the work? Nothing about it is productive. The HR team is falling apart and new VPs have joined who have made an already tough HR environment significantly worse. Instead of anyone seeing people leaving as a sign to dig deep and look in the mirror at the culture, they shrug and say “this isn’t for everyone”. No, it isn’t for anyone. And ignoring such clear feedback and data is negligent, at best.

Pros

-Dedicated individuals at more mid-junior levels who want to contribute and make a difference -Healthcare benefits

Cons

-Top leadership, including CEO, does not show value or trust in the talent that it brings on, which breeds a culture of defensiveness, fear, reactivity, promotes a "watch out for yourself" mentality -Promotes toxic leadership that cares more about their egos and being "right", rather than being open, collaborative, and investing in the healthy grow of their teams -Lack of organizational structure and professional growth opportunities. Leadership is so reactive to the bottom line that structuring and growing or resourcing its teams properly to promote the best outputs and competitive edge is an afterthought -Lack of clear vision and direction from CEO and others in executive leadership. Actions speak louder than words.

Not for everyone

Pros

Pay is decent. Benefits are great. Lots of free food and unlimited coffee. A Zen garden thing that HR seemed proud of.

Cons

The Marks (now just a Mark, apparently) constantly changed direction. Only senior VPs and above make decisions. Everyone else buzzes around and does their bidding, iteration after iteration after iteration until the higher ups decide they like it. So many "senior management reviews" (at least 2-3 per week) that it is basically impossible to get any real work done between 8a - 5p, therefore, long hours. Occasionally, hair gel Mark would get frustrated and blow up at everyone. The millennials would shudder and stutter. Gen Xers like me would just roll their eyes...whatever. It's vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, folks. They're not making air-to-air missiles or neurosurgery tools. Spent a year there so I didn't need to give up the signing bonus and then bailed out.
