All in all the environment is great to be in which allows my work to be much higher quality.

No real direct downside, no complaints honestly.

Pros

Honestly, it's difficult to pick what the best things are about being part of the Shepherd Center family. The first thing that comes to mind is the genuine warmth i feel here each and every day. Everyone is always smiling or cordial with one another and it isn't in a forced way. Another great thing would be the population we care for. The work is so rewarding being able to help life be a little easier for those with brain and spinal cord injuries. Another benefit of working at the Shepherd Center is that, as an employee, I feel I matter, my opinions matter, and that I am genuinely cared for. I could go on and on about the joys of working here but I won't bore you!

Cons

The downsides of working at Shepherd Center are few and very far between. For the sake of putting some, I'll try my best. One con would be that the hospital is located on a busy road so if you're in a personal vehicle you may experience some difficulty coming into work if running late.

Pros

Set scheduling is a huge bonus. I work the same schedule every week. Shepherd invests in continuity of care and we work as a team, it gives RNs and PCTs to get to know their patients and troubleshoot problems together. PCT’s are highly trained. They are deeply integrated with the patients rehab process as well. Management does its best to keep ratios low so we can provide the best care. Our culture is relaxed but dedicated to the mission of rebuilding lives after a catastrophic injury.

Cons

Working with patients with catastrophic injuries can be draining emotionally. Because we are a small hospital, promotion and growth opportunities are sporadic.
