Life as a store manager

Pros

Great salary and bonus program. Health benefits are second to none. 401k program is excellent. Best products in the industry. Up to date technology for the stores. (Equipment)

Cons

Stores are under staffed. Micro managed. Long hours. New hiring system is difficult to navigate and even worse for the prospect candidate. Constant sales promos with no end in sight to get caught up. Did I mention how under staffed we are!

Pros

Was a MTP (manager training position) and then placed as an assistant sales manager in a fairly large store. The pay is good if you are in management, the benefits are great, and even a little bit of paid vacation.

Cons

The store is successful if you have a driven, hard nosed store manager. If you have a store manager that lets employees get away with mistakes and doesn't help develop them, the store will suffer. The hours aren't glorious, required to work 44 as an assistant and you will work saturdays and sundays if your store is short staffed.

Awful

Pros

Decent pay for right out of college and good experience. Easy to move up the ladder.

Cons

To many responsibilities and no clear vision. Assistants are expected to do almost everything in the store yet meet district and corporate sales expectations. Nothing is good enough even if you do hit your goals they are always looking at what you're doing wrong. Unrealistic goals and too many initiatives to follow with very little staff and hours. If you decide to work with Sherwin be prepared for long days with little to no reward for the time you put in and lots of micro-management from higher ups.
