Pros

Management will vary site to site, but 9 times out of 10 management is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help you achieve steps toward advancement in your role.

Cons

The farther from site level you get the less helpful some resources are. Multiple district level managers I've had see workers as only as numbers, including members of site management.

Pros

1. You almost always have something new to do each day. 2. You can get experience working forklifts or hand driven electric forklifts. 3. Gives you experience using straps to secure loads. 4. Helps you develop good communication skills. 5. Teaches you about working with paint products. 6. Company provides good quality vehicles to drive. 7. Company provides drivers with items to make work easier (pallet jacks, ratchet straps, touch pads, hand dollies, spill kits, first aid kits) 8. If you have problems with your vehicle the company will help pay for it. 9. Most days give you a good workout! 10. Teaches you how to unload and load semi trucks, box trucks, or sprinter vans. 11. There is opportunity for growth and advancement within the company.

Cons

1. The work can be physically tiring on days when you are moving lots of items around. 2. This one was just a personal issue but for a long period of time I have been without a touch pad because of an apparent chip shortage. This meant that finding my loads can be a hassle; it required me to communicate with dispatch over the phone to ask for loads. Sometimes dispatch may not know what you are picking up which requires you to communicate with the respective store to find out what it is. 3. There are times that inadequate training is provided due to the stores being busy. I had to learn from trial and error of using a hand driven forklift as well as learning how to properly secure loads. 4. Understaffing in the store might mean you have to work awkward hours sometimes. 5. Some deliveries might force you to go overtime without prior notice. 6. I had to wait several months before I even got my company shirts! 7. Dealing with other bad drivers on the road can be stressful to deal with at times. 8. Be prepared to get paint on your nice clothes! I would highly recommend purchasing clothes from a Goodwill or Salvation Army store to get your clothes for a cheaper price so you don’t have to worry so much about ruining your nice clothing. I’ve gone through at least three pairs of pants and a couple of shirts so far. 9. Some of the customers can be very demanding. 10. Finding new residential houses can be very difficult if builders boards are not present on the job sites. This is no fault of the stores (sometimes), but it can be very time consuming if you’re unprepared. *Ask your manager to provide you with a layout of the neighborhood. 11. Some deliveries might require you to traverse hills, soft sand, or even mud while carrying paint buckets weighing anywhere between 50 and 75 pounds. 12. Touch pads might be running out of date software and can be quite finicky from time to time. This can be especially frustrating when you have lots of deliveries that have to go out.
