      Overlook good employees, even ones with degrees, in order to satisfy diversity standards.

      Pros

      Good job throughout college, works with schedule, descent pay for a student, good benefits with 401k

      Cons

      Unfair to good employees by hiring new students fresh out of college that have to be trained by people that have been loyal to the company for years and know far more and are just as capable as the recent college graduates. Even someone working with the company for years with a degree may be overlooked in order to satisfy diversity demands. Managers used to be able to actually manage their own stores now you basically have to fill out a report for everything you do almost like the employees are puppets. Stays open very late on weekdays and open Saturday and Sunday all day. Hard for managers to have a good work/life balance.

      Self-Motivation a Must

      Pros

      Decent Pay, like owning your own business, good people to work with. Cliche as it may seem, this job is what you make of it. As long as you are surrounded by quality staff, you can climb the ladder in a relatively short amount of time.

      Cons

      Stores are open 7 days a week, winters can be very boring. Depending on the DM that is your area, you can feel very valued or very undervalued. The difference in a good DM and a poor DM completely changed by perspective of the company in the final 2 years I was with the company.
