      For the pay, this is the worst retail sales job you could get.

      Pros

      You usually get to know most of your customers which is nice. Many managers are open to working around your schedule or letting you take time off if you need it but that really depends on your manager. I've had one manager where you had to give 2 months notice to get a day off, for a college student working part time that is a little ridiculous. They usually do all their management hiring in house which is a nice to see. The internship program and the Management training program are very fun and you really feel like Sherwin Williams cares about their employees and it would be a great career.

      Cons

      Getting promoted is a toss of the coin. I've known under qualified but competent people who have been promoted after a year to assistant manager but I've also know overqualified, competent people who are still working part time after 5 years, and many request to move up. The pay is horrible. You can get the same pay or better at any other retail store without any of the knowledge that is required to work at Sherwin Williams. You get a raise once a year after your review and it's usually a slap in the face. Many times the manager will tell you that your 10 cent raise is a good raise. New employees with no experience are often hired on at the same rate as senior employees.
