Pros

Not many. Benefit and Salary are above average.

Cons

Work/Life balance is not existent. Most MT's quit within first 6 months to a year. Not much opportunity for advancement. No matter what the circumstances that always have the Store managers back. This is a pro is you happen to be a manager, but if you're not it can really make things difficult. Most people who work for the company don't have college degrees so their management skills are a joke. Long hours, work weekends, can't easily move to different locations or departments. As an Asst. Manager coming out of the MT Program you can't choose your placement. I have been commuting an hour for the past year.

Pros

Benefits are great, hours are suitable, and it creates minimal stress. You never have to worry about taking the work home with you or being consumed by it.

Cons

Upper management is an "old boys" club. In the sales parts of jobs, success can be completely manipulated by housing market. Hard work as an hourly employee is a complete waste of time.

Pros

Decent pay for a recent grad. As well as benefits. My particular store manager is excellent! No two store are the same so no two experiences are the same. You will learn a lot about paint, how it's made, application, and various other random things that customers bring to your attention. There is room for advancement, although this could take awhile. If your store meets its budget quarterly and annually, the bonuses are very good. Build relationships with customers because most are regulars, and you know each other on a first name basis.

Cons

MT programs has good intentions but falls short on preparation, especially in becoming an assistant manager. The work-life balance at my store was horrible, considering we were understaffed and the DM didn't care to help with that. Store hours are long and include Saturday and Sunday. I would work 10 days straight at times just to cover all the hours that the store is open. Customers are high maintenance and often leave you stressed.
