Supportive atmosphere where everyone cares about patient care
Pros
I work on the corporate side and feel supported in my career and the day-to-day. I work with many energetic, positive people who are focused on culture and innovation, which help drive us forward while keeping the company rooted in its dedication to patient care. I am so motivated by the work our MRI, PET/CT, and ASC teams are doing to provide excellent medical care to the many communities we serve. They are the best - and knowing the work I do supports them is why I have stuck around. We have very good employee recognition at Shields, which I think goes a long way in supporting culture and helping employees feel valued. This has been a great improvement since I started at the company in 2020. You also see the intelligence you are surrounded by - I am so impressed by the projects, innovations, and improvements made almost every WEEK at Shields. They are flying into the future and leading the industry in so many ways. What we're able to accomplish is inspiring and motivating.
Cons
There are definitely growing pains at Shields, which I think are always listened to and improved with time and resources. A lot of employees are feeling overworked and underpaid – and this is a difficult issue to fix. I have seen the hard-working efforts of HR and other departments to help fill roles and alleviate pressure, but so far it hasn't been enough. I would want people to understand the fast-paced schedule at Shields but know that people find the work very rewarding.
