Pros

Company driven to grow; Looking for people willing to do what it takes to grow the company; Good pay; Great co-workers/peers; Some strong leaders at mid & exec level; Competitive benefits (now have 401k)

Cons

Nepotism; Too many exec level staff who don't see eye-to-eye; no clear company vision; expectation that everyone can work around the clock (difficult to have work/life balance); government projects can end - not a negative - but some reviewers don't realize when a project ends, companies let staff go - happens with anyone doing government or contract work.

Poor Management at it's finest.

Pros

The one thing that I can take away from working at Shipcom are the people I've met, the friends I've made, and the experience of networking with multiple professionals throughout the country.

Cons

* The biggest con of the company is management. As other reviewers have stated, they are completely clueless on how to manage a project. For a company of about 100 employees, there are at least 10 Vice Presidents; all of whom do not collaborate or communicate with each other. They all try to run things their own way which contradicts each other and causes extra work for everybody else. * Performance reviews and raises are non-existent. * Management makes poor choices in selecting some of the most incompetent beings in the company and giving them leading roles which they cannot fill. * Actually, the more you mess up while at work, the higher chance you'll be selected to take on a leading role. * Favoritism is a big thing within the company. * Unrealistic deadlines with no support from HQ. * Hired to travel 70% of the time, quickly learned that their math was wrong and you'll be traveling 100% of the time. * There is no such thing as personal time; you are the property of Shipcom the moment you sign on the dotted line. * There is no career advancement within the company, the position you are hired for is the position you will be stuck with forever. * During your travels, you have to pay for everything out of your own pocket and then can expense it to the company at a later time. This can range anywhere between $2000-$5000 per month. * There are quite a few micro managers within the company.
