Let me cut to the chase. Other launch engineers have talked about how terribly hard the role is, and how little the pay and support is, but there's one thing to focus on that I think takes precedence, this organization is very racist.
Senior management is very white, and it shows. people were given promotions, and a new team was formed, taking members from my team which is incredibly diverse, but somehow only white people got this promotion and new team. How is that possible in 2022. You have to actively be trying to only promote white people for that to happen.
I've worked at tech companies before, but the racism here is so overt that it's hard not to ignore. You have to work 5x as hard as your white peers to even get a shred of the same recognition as them.
You have to work 5x as hard as your cis-white coworkers to even get a shred of the same recognition as them. I'm burnt out. This isn't a progressive company, and the new senior management for launch engineers has no clue what they are doing. We had to give up our equity in order to get a bump in pay. Did the senior management do anything? Nope just twiddled their thumbs and made our our direct managers deal with it. No advocacy.
