Pros

The product is awesome, the SF office offers lunch for in-office employees, the office very welcoming for dogs, and the company is full of intelligent and hardworking people.

Cons

There is what I can only describe as a culture of firing, fear mongering, and micromanagement. Jobs are consistently threatened, people drop like flies. Entire teams get cut without—from my perspective—a plan and isn’t related to performance. Lots of gossip circulating around the SF office, oftentimes in public office spaces. Morale is low and no one seems to trust anyone else. Consistent leadership shuffling leads to ICs left with little direction. Leadership also seems to disagree often; I received conflicting information from leaders on a regular basis. I wouldn’t take the risk, even though Sigma offers high salaries and competitive benefits; decisions are made so abruptly that you could be looking at job loss or a new manager every 6 months without any idea as to why.

Sigma Computing Response

I'm sorry we weren't the right place for you - but we acknowledge that our company may not be for everyone. Let's talk about who we are - It's true that we always strive to be the best in everything that we do and it's also true that we believe that winning matters. It's true that we move fast and make fast decisions. It's true that we believe strongly in working together in the office. It's true that we have a high bar for performance and that we expect everyone that works at Sigma to be accountable for their goals (everyone from the interns to the leadership team). Having enjoyed consistent triple digit growth for the last 4 years those truths will remain true and we will continue to welcome people to Sigma that believe in what we believe in. But there are also things in your comments that are not true - what is not true is that we are not committed to diversity or that promotions are somehow reserved for one group of people over another - I’m sorry that you felt that that was your experience but that is not and never will be the reality. Of course like any company we know we are not perfect - we move fast and while we don't always break things I’m sure that we miss things. But we are growth focused on more than just our financial goals - as you know one of our core Operating Principles is to Optimize for Learning because we believe that we can always be better I'm sorry that we weren't right for you but we will always be honest about who we are and that we can be better and want to be better. So we will always welcome anyone that wants to be part of our growth journey - particularly if you want to make us better!

Pros

High growth opportunities, assuming you take advantage of them Extremely collaborative environment Engineering-driven priorities, feels like you get a lot of say in the projects you work on Very competitive compensation (even assuming 0 for stock options)

Cons

Headcount, too many things to do and not enough engineers to complete it, however WLB is not severely impacted by this Hybrid but requires 4 days/week in office
