Pros
Great pay to people with little or no experience, depending on which maritime college you went to. Advancement is very fast as people quit, most management personnel lasts 3 years or less. The owner is a very hands on kind of person, he will make sure your e-mail address is correct. If you are from Kings Point or another maritime college you will be hired way above your skill level. Usually this is done to make sure you do not quit, and go to work somewhere else.
Cons
Very hostile work environment at times, from the boss down to your fellow employees. The owners like to micro manage to much of the business, to the point where you can't do your job. Very high turnover, the owner doesn't fire you, just attacks you until you quit.; so he can play the victim. I was witness to many personal attacks on fellow employees, vendors and customers. The last straw for me was when the owner sent an e-mail to everyone (except me) telling them how stupid I was and should go back to grade school. Your fellow employees are always trying to undermine you, that is how I find out about the e-mail, when the current manager showed it to me to rub it in.
