Pros

Co workers and lower management guys are great for the most part. Just a bunch of normal guys trying to do a good job. Boats are nice and clean thanks to the great guys that work on them!

Cons

Hmmm where do I even start!? Upper management aka office managers and owner, have zero interest in the well being and life of there employees. It's not a good feeling to wake up every morning and go to work for someone, you know values you about as much as trash on the side walk. It's really hard on you mentally and physically. I love the people I work along side with I just wish I could see a future here. They recently took us off hourly/OT pay and put us on a 12 hour day rate. Which wouldn't be bad but they cut back the crews to the bare minimum per shift. So we are constantly being asked to work over our 12 hour day without zero compensation which is a big no no to anyone with common since. Our shift is from 4am-4pm. Then there are the captains that will not stand up for the guys under them and speak up. Even after you put in 12 hours and go home you are expected to jump up at a minutes notice in the middle of the night to come to work for free. Captains here have a lot more power than at most places. They are probably the only reason the port of Pascagoula even lets berry snider still work this port, because they all grew up here along with the pilots of Pascagoula. I wish I could speak my opinion out loud but would just be shunned by my scared co workers.

The Easiest or the Worst

Pros

The Equipment is great, the boats are mostly new several built in just the past few years. They are maintained quite well. The personal for the most part is good. It can be a struggle for new employees because it is very cliqueish but thats just a matter of time. The daily pay rate is nothing to brag about but you will have a very nice take at the end of the year. When it is slow this job is the easiest, you'll come in at 8am play on your phone till the day ends at 5pm. For the most part its a laid back chill job and their is a definitive community feel to the employees which can be really nice.

Cons

Personal management, the powers that be have never heard of this concept. When it is busy you can put your life on hold. Last minute calls for away jobs that may last days to weeks are the new norm. Upon writitng this there is no longer any Day Boat rotational spots, which means you are on call 24/7. The crews are rarely the same expect to float. Also expect to be critiqued over any expenditure the boat may incur. Email is the bane of the company, expect infighting and back stabbing from management. I've done my best to stay out of the drama but its nearly unavoidable. The major clients that keep SMCI afloat know that they have it in a vice. Expect to be told very little on jobs and be prepared to be made to look like a fool. Also this company rarely promotes from with in, if you're protected or the benefactor of the rampant favoratism then boom no worries. If you're just a regular dude well expect to be lied to. Last but not least when it comes to doing damage the company policy is that if you feel comfortable doing the task then god bless, but if you do damage which could be as minor as tearing the fendering then oh woe is you.
