They treat developers poorly

Pros

They have snacks. The Dev manager was awesome but he quite. The hours were ok It was in a good location.

Cons

They treated the developers poorly. The project managers and the CTO were rude to the developers when there were bugs in the code. They should know working that when developers write software that there are going to be bugs every know and again. They didn't have QA testers.

Thank you for reaching out. I believe you have us confused with another company as we don't have a CTO or a Dev Manager at our company. We provide services, not software. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at the company you are referring to. If there is anything I can do to help you please reach out to me directly at anthonyc@simplus.com

Pros

i worked with some great consultants, Project Manager and Directors but all of them left because of the top two management.

Cons

No authentic top-level leadership, lost great leaders, hardly any projects, and toxic culture. The Company is very political; management does whatever is necessary to keep power within top two.

Best Career Move I've Ever Made

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

I've been with Simplus for almost 4 years now, and I've seen many many changes. We've grown tremendously, as has my career. I've been given so many opportunities to grow as a consultant and a manager while at Simplus. Joining was absolutely, positively, without a doubt one of the best career moves I've ever made. I still vividly remember 4 years ago talking with Joe Carr, with me hemming and hawing about joining. I already had a good job and at the time it was a leap of faith leaving and joining Simplus. I made the plunge, and wow - thank goodness I did.

Cons

Simplus is a Salesforce consulting firm, and yes, sometimes tech consulting is very stressful. We can have demanding clients, we can have projects with high travel, there are many inherent attributes of consulting that make it "stressful". Many of these things aren't the fault of Simplus, it's just a demanding industry. The exact same stressors exist at competing firms - most of them even more so. You will be out of your comfort zone, you will get stressed out. But each time that has happened to me, I toughed it out, I leaned on coworkers and friends at Simplus, and always came out on the other side. From my coworkers to my managers to the leadership team, I'm having a tough time thinking of many 'cons'.

Pros

Progress. You can work with some smart and skilled people and progress in your skillset which will set you up well in the future pretty well. They do seem to care about giving back and helping less fortunate people, not just for show, but it actually seems like a genuine effort on their part. That part of the company is respectable.

Cons

- Stressful. Not a laid back environment whatsoever. Continually changing directions, and not in the exciting way of "fast paced", but in the way of firing entire teams of people and hiring new staff for different positions without properly vetting them because they don't have time. They have gone through a lot of employees over a short amount of time, that's why they have over 50 glassdoor reviews for a company with only 100 employees and has been in business for only a few years. - Underpaid. Working in development they do not pay well. Make sure to absolutely demand what you are worth before accepting an offer and never expect a raise. They went back and forth for months "making plans" on how I can get a simple raise after being there for a year. Finally after leaving Simplus I found a job paying twenty thousand more within a week, literally one week from leaving and I got that much of a bump to simply get my market value. This story is repeated multiple times through multiple employees. People leaving to get a 40% increased pay somewhere else right away. - Titles. In order to underpay their employees they give everyone a great title. It seems as though over half the current company are VP's, Managers, Executives, or Directors. They do this, I assume, because the feel they can pay you less if they slap a fancy title on you, employees will consider it a good investment. - Micro-managed. Scrum meetings every morning, Task management software tracking every minute you work on everything. Every second of your day tracked and monitored. If you go over on any project that's scoped by someone that has no idea what they are doing they act as if you are personally responsible for losing the company billable time. If you like having every single second of your day tracked, If you like spending a good portion of the day entering project details and times and lists into complex project management software, if you like having to deal with project managers and be micro managed non-stop every day multiple times a day, this is the place for you. - With these negatives listed, I will say that the company does seem to slowly be shifting in the right direction. I would say the outlook is good and some of these issues are due to them being relatively new and finding out what direction they really want to go. I think in fairness many of these issues will resolve over time.

Thank you for posting such a detailed review. I'm not sure if you have us mixed up with another company, as we do not have scrum meetings at all. Simplus provides services, not software. We are always looking for ways to improve so please reach out to me directly at anthonyc@simplus.com and I would be happy to chat with you if there is any confusion.

Pros

Good team which you can learn Salesforce from

Cons

Far too many managers. Of the 70 people in Australia over 25% of them are Managing Directors, Deputy Directors, Delivery Directors, Sales Execs, the list goes on and on. Despite all this overhead and lots of talk around new products and services the reality is the company hasn't grown at and shrinking its consulting base. Management believe their own BS and causes a very unhealthy place to work.

Great advice on listening to the team. I will be sure to bring this up with senior leadership in Australia to ensure we have a good pulse on what items need a course correction. Thank you for the feedback!

Dear reviewer, We want to thank you for leaving a review for Simplus. We truly appreciate the time you took to write about your experience and leave suggestions. Simplus has been rapidly growing since its start, and because of that we've always looked for many avenues to boost headcount and staff projects. Both our bootcamps and external hiring efforts have served this purpose. We've been happy to see many of our bootcampers continue to develop their skills and advance to more senior positions using our certification program and company-paid testing fees. This includes both Salesforce certifications as well as other valuable project management and technology platforms. We're sorry you have not felt the support or investment of Simplus in your own experience. We will take this feedback internally and look for new ways we can better support bootcampers with a long-term future in or out of Simplus. Thank you!
