Pros

Good structure and processes in place. Authentically be yourself at work.

Cons

Line Management was the reason i left and the behavior was something the business admitted they were aware of already, The rest of the business was great and i probably would still be there now.

Pros

Work life balance is good, at least for now

Cons

Engineering recently had the brilliant idea of using "commits per day" to measure developer productivity. For any experienced engineer, that pretty much speaks for itself. They also used to have consistent opportunities to submit for promotions/merit increases, but they have recently been significantly delaying it.

We recently launched new ways to help SBers be their best and make a meaningful impact on our customers and part of this was a commits per day measure. We believe that these new metrics balance our commitment to innovation and speed to market. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to success in Engineering, our intent is to strike a balance across a variety of goals to ensure our Engineers have the proper tools, support, and direction to continue to innovate and bring impactful technology solutions to market for our customers. Our mission is for SBers to grow more here than anywhere else. We’ve had a number of promotions at SB already this year, and we’ve recently been working hard to improve the opportunities for personal growth at SB. Your review has highlighted there is potential to improve the ways we communicate this across Engineering. Personal development can take many forms and paths.
