Tons of Growth Opportunities, Great Clients, Supportive Team

Pros

My favorite part of working at Single Grain is the growth opportunities and focus on learning. Everyone is very smart and willing to help out wherever needed. The clients are cool, well-known brands with bid budgets and a ton of trust in our team. The sales pipeline is strong and the team is able to be selective in their clients. I have never worked at another place like it - highly recommend for those looking to level up in their careers. We got 1 mental health day off from work each month on top of our PTO, we get a sizeable education stipend that I have used to attend an in-person conference with the team, and you get a home office stipend when you start.

Cons

Remote culture makes it more difficult to connect with others, but the team makes an effort with events and time to talk about non-work things. The leader is a bit removed from what we are doing day-to-day.

Pros

Great benefits package and OK pay.

Cons

This company acquired another agency a year or so ago, and within 6 months of official acquisition had let go of nearly all of the acquired employees when the employees were the main asset acquired next to the clientele. When new leadership was put in place, a department of 40-ish people had most of them let go without reason. The company made a lot of promises that they didn't keep when first integrating the agency they acquired. The culture became very toxic and most of that stemmed from the CEO himself.

Thank you for your feedback and for acknowledging the benefits and pay. We put a lot of hard work into those two areas to take care of our people. We don't take it lightly at all when we hire people as we know that it is their livelihood that we are affecting. Unfortunately, we are also a business and good businesses value performance. We haven't let anyone go 'without reason'. We also didn't cut a department of 40 people. In fact, we try to work closely with everyone and gather as much feedback as we can so we can learn how to continually improve. One of our core values is 'improvement obsession' and we strive to do our best to live by that value daily. Of course, the buck starts and stops with me and so when it comes to having to move on from people, it is ultimately my fault to begin with and I accept that responsibility. I agree with you that organizations should not be tunnel visioned on sales. We have been focused on client retention more than anything because if we do a great job, everything works itself out. Great Company Culture and Professional Growth Opportunities

Pros

I worked at Single Grain for over two years. They have the best company culture I've experienced. I enjoyed working with a team full of eccentric people who are passionate about innovating and moving the industry forward. Single Grain’s people-focused approach has fostered a collaborative culture that yields career and personal growth. Single Grain provided me with plenty of professional growth opportunity. I was able to work closely with large clients, impact business outcomes, and have fun with a great group of people in the process. We had high-quality clients as there is selective criteria to determine the clientele brought onboard. There is a focus on quality rather than quantity of clients. There are plenty of team lunches, happy hours, and fun things to keep employees engaged. Employees are also able to work remotely two days a week, which is great.

Cons

Honestly none that I can think of right now. Single Grain is such a radical departure from previous experiences I've had with digital agencies that constantly churn through clients and burnout their employees. You'll have the opportunity to do high quality work for large clients, but you need to be the type of person who has a sense of accountability and ownership over their work.
