Pros

-- Opportunity to write a history by making an important and successful database company for the first time in the past 4 decades -- Great size (under 100 people) and growth trajectory (accelerating growth) for the company, which means that the are opportunities to take up more responsibilities, while at the same time having good structure in place -- Great exposure to senior management and explosive growth means that you can learn a lot not just by doing your direct function, but also by observing things happenings around you every day -- Best engineering team in Silicon Valley -- Culture of investing in tools and processes to ensure that employees are productive -- Nice perks, like catered lunch & dinner, etc.

Cons

-- Haven't found any as of yet

Pros

-Amazing team! Everyone is incredibly intelligent, hard working, and inspiring to be around. By far the smartest group of people I have ever met and I am constantly growing and learning from them. I am excited to come to work everyday because of my coworkers. -Small enough that everyone plays an important role and contributes greatly. Employees can take full ownership of their roles and responsibilities. -Solid product that is gaining traction with major enterprise companies. Our growing roster of customers makes me confident in the future and stability of the business. -Flat organization that allows a lot of face time and access to the management/key decision makers -Impressive strategic investors and advisors (a group of very smart people gave us a lot of money to keep doing what we are doing!) -Fun company happy hours, events, off sites! -Catered lunch and dinner. Plus unlimited snacks and drinks! -Beautiful office in SOMA that is dog friendly and close to ATT Park, Caltrain, and fun bars!

Cons

-Not enough product trainings for non engineering team members -Lack of communication and follow through -Low female to male ratio -Don't always provide employees with all the resources necessary to be extra successful. Odd priorities when it comes to budgets and spending money.

Your feedback is extremely appreciated. All of your concerns and advice to upper management is something I can align with. We have had numerous team members express the need for more women on the team, especially within engineering. As I am sure you are aware, this is a big issue throughout the industry and we want to be at the forefront of workplace equality and representation in this industry. Our Director of HR along with several of our employees are making this a central mission for the company. We have begun engaging women and minority organizations in the industry for guidance on this initiative. This is an area of concern we have identified with the recent growth in headcount and observed/recognized disproportionate representation . We have just begun brainstorming and working on developing a plan of action. We need to get more change agents involved in making this come to fruition. I'd love to chat with you on this at length and hear any thoughts and ideas you have on promoting more diversity at MemSQL.

Pros

The company is growing incredibly fast and the day-to-day is an adrenaline rush. I have high hopes for the company and couldn't be more satisfied with my decision to join. I left a great company on a similar growth trajectory, but joined a bit late in the game than I would have liked. The size, momentum, level of responsibility is exactly what I've been looking for. The culture is open, friendly, and collaborative. Walking in, you would be unable to tell who is what level of seniority. The company has been able to keep the hierarchy extraordinary flat. Lunch and dinner is catered 5 days a week. Benefits, perks, options, and salary are top of market. I have a ton of autonomy and have not had one instance since I've joined where I was feeling micro-managed. Overall, amazing place to work. I'm surprised the company (from a cultural standpoint) has been kept under the radar.

Cons

Don't expect any hand-holding. Some formal product training would have been nice. You'll need to use the people around you to get ramped up. Find people at the company who can teach you what you need to learn and schedule a meeting with him or her. If you don't assert yourself a bit, you'll likely fall behind.
