Pros

-people - culture -don’t have to work hard

Cons

-leadership is absolutely terrible - be prepared to make the same amount money for 3-5 years without anything but a 1% pay increase and a be bonus structure - you’ll get put on projects that have nothing to do with your skills and won’t increase the skill levels you need to hit your target, however you’ll be fully utilized but it won’t matter because your skills are lacking. - you’ll have to jump through hoops and play the popularity game in order to get ahead - people leaders don’t help in any way, they aren’t out to help you. You can only sell yourself - the small company has become a money hungry corporation that could care less about its people and its clients.

Just don't

Pros

Was brought in as an expert in my field. Was sold on the culture, life work balance, exponential growth of the company. Pitched as an opportunity to join the leadership team to help the company become a large global company. Was a great sales pitch by the recruiter and executive leadership.

Cons

In my opinion. From the get-go, I learned that executive leadership make decisions based on feelings, and closed-door meetings. Many leaders have a small company mentality and cannot manage on a large scale. Lots of micro-management. Leadership is not open to change, nor continuous improvement and favor tenured leaders and employees from the Seattle office. During the layoffs and continued quiet layoffs, there are clear examples of Seattle based retention bias based on historical personal relationships rather than performance and workloads. (I believe I am an example of the bias). I would anticipate the company to continue to lay off and outsource employees, as they simply don’t know how to manage a large company.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO for Director level and above - WLB exists, dependent on the role

Cons

- Loose, autonomous interviewing style has led to a wide spectrum of people through the door (some are close to incompetent) - Cloud is not at the core of their business - it's still growing and going through growing pains. Lots of folks there don't know cloud but have internally transferred into cloud-facing positions - Leadership did not take swift action to make needed resource changes during 1H 2023 leading to changes to RIF and major changes bonus payout structure with short notice (less than two months notice until it takes effect) - Lack of clear strategy and priorities means that the company continues to take a "wait and see" or "organic" approach rather than picking big bets on the way forward to grow its business - For a company that sells change management services, leadership doesn't seem to embrace change management - No existence of internal job board, making internal moves solely contingent on who you know rather than level playing field for all - Seems to be channeling Amazon Leadership Principles more and more rather than sticking to own culture or building its own
