Smalls will pat itself on the back for its progressive and welcoming culture, but has deeply struggled recently to maintain said culture. Smalls leadership frequently bites off more than they can chew, promising not to scale irresponsibly, only to then let go a third of their customer service team as a result of being overeager with hiring. Decisions made at the top of the organization have had deep impacts on morale, and speak to the decline of the care Smalls has previously operated with. While I acknowledge that companies need to make tough decisions to ensure their long-term viability, there must be improvement in terms of aligning growth strategies with personnel needs in order for Smalls to remain a trustworthy employer. A more thoughtful approach to hiring and recruitment would greatly benefit both employees and the company. Not getting lost in an unnecessary sense of urgency can ensure that everyone feels safe and secure in their positions.

Well, I was part of a team that was developing a new version of their product. We never had an actual guideline or something, just a proposal on what to do. I worked during the new year and Christmas to prepare the latest version. We had sporadic weekly deadlines because that was the way things rolled. After all the effort and time, we were notified that we were changing languages and a new team was taking over. All that time I spent doing that thing will never come back.
