Pros

Nice, smart, dedicated staff. There is a very friendly atmosphere at SEPA.

Cons

At the end of the day the organization is largely superfluous. It's almost a charity or a status symbol for members. So it has to generate its own value, and it's always changing and finding new ways to do that. Each "pivot", they scrap the old plans, leaving the previous 6 months of work unfinished.

Could be a great place to work depending on position.

Pros

Young, smart staff in a growing industry. Good benefits.

Cons

Senior staff very disorganized and not a lot of experience outside SEPA. A select few seem to overstep others and get involved in areas that are not part of their job or department's responsibilities. High turnover rate and little concern with not being able to keep staff. Board has asked staff about the turnover but no action yet.

Compromised Leadership

Pros

The junior and middle management level is full of incredibly smart and driven individuals who are bright and capable.

Cons

Senior leadership flouts the organization's cultural values of transparency and accountability. The company line is that there is no room for advancement if the company doesn't require additional skills. Yet, if you are a pet of senior management, you will be offered signing bonuses to stay on and fictitious positions will be created to advance you. It's a shame. The organization has a lot promise but the ethics of senior leadership are severely compromised. As a result, organizational morale is historically low and there is a severe lack of trust between middle management and senior leadership.
