Smart & Final usually has a decent community, both in customers and employees. You won't be dealing with entitlement, nonsensical customers, etc. Rather, you'll be dealing with misunderstandings, which are usually easily dealt with. Make sure to communicate your abilities and current mental health. Management is lenient, so that was nice of them. I was a good worker, so they cut me some slack when I wasn't able to work at minimum.

Cons

It's your typical groceries sales. That means if you're on the clock, they're going to make you do something. No standing around doing nothing, you will work. That said, pace yourself so you don't get burned out.

The hiring manager immediately picked up on my previous retail experience and bumped my starting pay accordingly. I really appreciated that!

Cons

We are short-staffed a lot of the time, which can be stressful.
