Pros

I've been with SmartAsset for a while now, working as part of the Training team, and I've consistently found it to be a genuinely positive and supportive place to grow my career. I initially joined SmartAsset because I was incredibly impressed by the clarity of the company's vision and the clear direction they were heading. With my background in the lead generation industry, I immediately recognized the potential and felt a strong alignment with their goals. What truly resonated with me was how the company communicates its commitment to empowering employees, providing both the necessary research and the autonomy to truly succeed in their roles. What I've really enjoyed and found valuable during my time here is the emphasis on continuous learning and the supportive culture. As a member of the Training team, I've had ample opportunities to not only refine my skills but also contribute directly to the success of my colleagues. I've also been particularly blown away by the sales culture; tenured representatives genuinely want to help new hires and openly share the strategies that make them successful, which is a refreshing and uncommon trait in many sales organizations I've encountered. The leadership genuinely cares about fostering a positive work environment, and there's a strong sense of camaraderie across departments. The work is challenging and engaging, and I appreciate that my contributions are recognized and valued. It's a place where you feel empowered to make an impact and are given the resources to do so.

Cons

Like any fast-growing company, adapting to rapid changes and evolving processes can sometimes be a challenge, but leadership is generally transparent and responsive to feedback.

Pros

- Fully remote company lending itself to an incredibly versatile and flexible working experience. - A modern approach to problem solving using up to date tech and listening ears at all levels ready to hear from any employee, not just those with the longest tenure. The ability to make an impact rather quickly once you start I believe is incredible here. - Incredibly insightful leadership team with goals that propel the company's growth strategy in tandem with your own career aspirations. - Clear goals and expectations set to ensure everyone is on track and for individuals to know where they stand in that outlook - I have experienced an incredible culture on my team that leads to a ton of awesome collaboration and making unexpected friends even in a remote environment - An incredible emphasis on work/life balance. When you are on, you will work hard, but you will have the added feeling that once "Off the Clock", you are free to live your life outside of work as well!

Cons

- Team culture does not transfer over as well company wide. Not that there is a bad or toxic culture across SA, but that it is a bit more difficult to engage outside of your team. I come from a job that was onsite every single day, so this is just something I have had to work on being more comfortable with. - Lacking a bit in the celebration of our general users outside of Advisors. We constantly hear about the growth of our advisor's business and such, which is great, but the number one reason I joined SmartAsset was the potential to help those in need of financial advice to have this resource available.

Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful review! It’s wonderful to hear how the flexibility, collaboration, and leadership support at SmartAsset have contributed to both your professional growth and your work-life balance. Your perspective on being able to make an impact quickly and feel heard regardless of tenure is exactly the kind of culture we strive to build. We also appreciate the constructive feedback you shared. We recognize that it can take extra effort to feel connected across teams in a fully remote environment, and we’re continuing to look for ways to strengthen company-wide connection and community. And your note about celebrating the impact we have on consumers as well as advisors is a great reminder of the broader mission we’re here to serve. Thank you again for the impact you’re making and for helping us continue to improve.

No BS - Data Driven & Collaborative Environment

Pros

I've worked at a lot of companies that claim to be data-driven and free of politics—but the reality often doesn’t match the pitch. In my 25+ years of experience, this is just the second place where that actually holds true. - At SmartAsset, the entire company truly operates on data and impact. If you're focused on driving meaningful results, there’s no red tape getting in your way. - The people are not just smart—they're humble. That combo is rare and makes collaboration feel natural and energizing. - It's a culture of “we,” not “me.” Everyone I've worked with is generous with their time and ideas, and there’s real curiosity and mutual respect across teams. - It's not your typical 9-to-5 clock-in/clock-out place. People are mission-driven and motivated by impact, which creates a strong sense of purpose. - If you're the type who enjoys building, solving meaningful problems, and being surrounded by kind, sharp teammates—this is a great place to be.

Cons

This is a fast-paced, impact-driven environment. If you're looking for a predictable 9-to-5 role with minimal change or ambiguity, this likely won’t be the right fit. As a fully remote company, it can be harder to build the kind of casual camaraderie that comes from in-person moments—like hallway chats or grabbing coffee with a colleague. That said, the tradeoff is flexibility. You gain autonomy and work-life balance, but you'll need to be intentional about building relationships and staying connected.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and candid review! We’re incredibly proud to hear that your experience at SmartAsset has lived up to our values around being data-driven, collaborative, and mission-focused. It means a lot coming from someone with your depth of experience—and your words really capture the kind of culture we’re working to foster here. We also hear you on the tradeoffs of remote work. Flexibility and autonomy are key benefits, but we agree that more in-person connection would make our teams even stronger. We’re continuing to explore ways to create those moments—whether through offsites, regional meetups, or other touchpoints that bring people together meaningfully. Thank you again for your impact and perspective—it’s team members like you who make SmartAsset such a special place.
