Externally or internally, career wise, you have better chances to be dropped on where you will end up than climb up the ladder to where you want to go. In fact you'll probably slip a few bar down, as that is no easy task to please the management as many of the newly added layers have already tried.
Confusion, could be what’s left of those attempt. Without any explanation, management will simply tell that they left. The incessant turnover, the people laid off, the people leaving have not only put an emphasis on it but also demonstrate that whether you do your mission or not, un-regarding on your long years of services, your knowledges and skills may no longer be required, in other terms you are obsolete and unwanted. Actually you will not even receive so much as call if you resign, time is money and you can't stop the time.
The unexisting communication makes the short term and long term strategy quite challenging, but who doesn't like challenge. this said it could be surprising that within the company the sole people that seem to know what Smartfocus is selling are the Sales force and the technical staff have no clue on what the product(s) looks like.
