A lot of interesting problems to solve. Management actively listened to engineering and let us lead the industry on technology. It was great working closely with visionary leadership Mike Cagney (CEO), June Ou (CTO), and Matt Conroy (VP of Technology). Following the unfortunate leadership upset in 2017, I also learned a lot from the growth-centered leadership of Anthony Noto (CTO) and Tony Donohoe (CTO).

Cons

The biggest downside while I was there was the siloed and sometimes adversarial disconnect between the Marketing/Product group and Engineering.

SoFi has excellent focus on member health and satisfaction, as well as employee health and satisfaction. It is clear from the very highest levels of the company, down to the direct engineering mangers that the focus of the company is not profit, but success of members and employees.

Cons

While it is a fintech company, sometimes it feels more like a bank, and innovation is not always a focus.
