Pros

Tons of opportunity for growth and development Great compensation and benefits (flexible PTO that really is flexible and generous and not an excuse to give us less, 100% family health insurance paid on HDHP) Our CEO (Anthony Noto) is extremely passionate about SoFi and really knows our business and is making SoFi into a great company. We're always innovating, launching new products, no day is dull or boring, really. I've worked for SoFi for over 6 years and whilst every career has its ups and down SoFi have been an incredible employer for me. They have supported me in multiple changes in career path and I still come into work with as much excitement, anticipation and opportunity to make a difference as 6 years ago.

Cons

Being a public company and being in application for a bank charter means there is more process, and less information can be shared internally than in early years but nothing that is unique to SoFi. Some benefits such has health insurance have reduced a little in the last few years but is still way ahead of market. No 401k match.

First off - WOW - thank you for the 6+ years you have dedicated to working at SoFi! We know everyone is super busy right now, so we sincerely appreciate that you've taken the time to leave such a comprehensive review of your time here. We're very happy to hear your experience has been overall positive, and that you feel our compensation and benefits packages are competitive and that they meet your needs. We agree that no two days are the same here at SoFi, and this type of environment creates a really dynamic, challenging, and rewarding experience for our employees. You're right - as we continue to grow, we will introduce more processes so we can scale our organization efficiently. That said, we will always encourage our employees to question the status quo, to think up new and innovative ways to do things...so our processes will continue to evolve. We hear you on 401k match - please continue to bring this up so our Benefits team knows it is top of mind for our employees. Thanks again for being on this journey with us, and take care!

Pros

Great peers to work with! I’ve had excellent managers and leaders but I think this varies depending on department. They have high expectations and goals but times are also exciting here at SoFi. I’m glad I am here and curious to see where things go for this company. They really are trying to make this the best place to work and it feels genuine. Weekly town halls from the leadership team help give visibility to the business and the accomplishments from each team. I would recommend working here, but be ready to work quickly!

Cons

Most the cons for me are the benefits we get. The perks for being a salary employee vs an hourly employee are pretty drastic. As an hourly employee we don’t get the SoFriday 2 PM release benefit which is frustrating when you work on a team that’s 90% salaried employees and you are left working alone for most the day. We also get 15 days off vs salary gets unlimited. I feel like that’s a huge difference. Like others have said no 401(k) match and maternity leave is 2 months. As a company that strives to be the the best they should really look at these and get up to industry standards for the Bay Area at least.

We're so grateful for our amazing engineers! Thank you for taking the time to share a review of your SoFi experience. We're proud of team we have in Salt Lake City - we're glad to hear you are enjoying the people. That said, your comments around politics are not indicative of the type of culture or work environment we are trying to create. We are committed to building a world-class leadership team and continue to roll out programs and training to ensure our people-leaders have the skills, tools, and resources to inspire their teams. If you would like to continue this conversation, we welcome an email at glassdoor@sofi.org. Thank you again for your feedback and for being a part of our SoFi-ety!
