Pros

Great Benefits, great co workers

Cons

No Communication. Company does not utilize the experienced staff. Brought in 2 upper level "reorganization people" to try and revamp, but ended up laying off the mortgage department off for round 2 within 12 months. Warning, RUN don't walk

Pros

The benefits are incredible! The vision of the company isn’t strong, but it’s an exciting environment to be in- and there are some truly amazing people there who are doing their best despite management and a truly weak HR department. I’m optimistic for the new CEO and what changes will trickle down from this new change.

Cons

Despite what they say- they are not agile. If you apply for a development position, please strongly discuss their process if this is important to you. Dev, QA, and Product all live in their own silo and unless you personally make it happen there will be no communication between those groups. There is a huge discrepancy in pay- they are doing their best to correct it because there have been multiple complaints, but people who are completely unqualified are making absurd amounts (in positions they are not qualified to hold), while some senior level individuals are barely making market value. You will notice very quickly that the people in management have been hired into their position based on friendships rather than performance or qualifications- in fact, a good chunk of the development and QA team were hired directly from the same previous company. It creates a strong “us versus them” environment that is unimaginably toxic- there is a lot of slander and backstabbing as everyone fights for recognition. A lot of people left at the same time in the last few months, and good people continue to trickle out. I think a general theme is that SoFi grew so fast that they lost their culture and made some very poor hiring decisions. Women: there is a lot to say on the matter of women in development here, but I think it’s important to note that on multiple occasions (by multiple people- both men and women) the question of addressing sexism in this company has come up in our townhall meetings with the CEO. Please do not ignore this if this is important to you.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We appreciate your perspective on what works well and what we can do to get better. Your optimism around our new CEO is shared widely in the company and we're happy to report that our turnover has decreased significantly since Anthony joined earlier this year. That said, we still have improvements to make as we continue to grow the company and address the immense opportunities in the fintech space. Our leadership team is committed to building a strong culture where we get the truth on the table, define the principles that should guide our actions, run after problems, and always take care of our people. Addressing the comments regarding gender, SoFi has a zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination of any kind and we actively encourage, and train our employees to speak up if they see something and report it privately if they feel uncomfortable doing so in the moment.

Pros

Beautiful campus. Best view in SF Good food.

Cons

Unprofessional management. Extreme favoritism. People with less experience get promoted. The scope of work does not match up to the job description. Too much talk, not much done. No innovation. Engineer lead does not equal tech-driven.

As a rapidly growing fintech company, technology innovation remains a critical part of our core business strategy. We encourage every employee to speak openly about their ideas to help us better serve our members and the community. If you have any suggestions for process improvements or things that we can do to help us scale, please share them with us.
