Loved the strategies and evidence-based approach used at this center. Also, the collaborative environment was a positive and it was a great experience learning from professionals in multiple fields (OT, SLP, ABA)

Pros

Soar is great at asking for employee feedback and implementing it. They consistently send out surveys and work to create an environment that all employees learn and grow in. They also invest in their employees and match your effort. They consistently ensure that each team member is doing their job efficiently, and make room for other opportunities that could improve the center. The attendance policy for RBT's is pretty generous, and the pay is comparable to other jobs in the field. Soar is very transparent about their policies, and once you fully learn them it is extremely easy to navigate.

Cons

Soar is a great place to work, however working as an RBT is a hard job. There is a high turnover rate, and sometimes hours fluctuate which can be frustrating at times.

It’s important to us that every team member feels heard and supported. We understand that being an RBT can be demanding, and we appreciate the hard work and emotional energy it takes. Pros

The reason I work in healthcare is because I am motivated by doing good for others and the community, and Soar affords me the chance to do this every day. I am grateful for the chance to connect with the children in our care, and to set them up for a bright future by providing excellent therapy to them. Soar offers ethical, evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy to children in a safe and welcoming environment. As an employee, I can always expect support, guidance, and a good working environment at Soar. The clinical setting offers the chance to connect with coworkers and collaborate on the job every day. Most of all, I love seeing the kids make progress, have fun, and feel safe to be themselves with us. I am compensated reasonably for my work, I have been promoted internally and added to my hourly rate by becoming registered as an RBT and working in two languages. I can pay my bills comfortably.

Cons

While this is a great place to work, it is demanding. It takes emotional endurance to work through hard situations with steady compassion and energy on a daily basis. That said, it is well worth it, and for the right person, it affords tremendous personal growth in these areas. One area where I have had positive and negative experiences is in scheduling and hours, which is one of this organization's biggest challenges. I am guaranteed thirty hours of work per week as full time staff, but it is possible to fall short of this number and need to advocate for more work. In the beginning of employment here, the hours are relatively low, but hiring bonuses and other incentives can compensate until one's schedule fills up after a few weeks. Soar tries hard to keep schedules consistent but some flexibility is required on the part of staff (though your daily start and end time availability will always be respected). These issues have never swayed me from staying on at Soar.
