Pros

Telework, mostly good relationship with direct managers and coworkers.

Cons

Workload is too much and unrealistic. The harder you work and more competent you are, the more work management will give you. The salary used to be considered good, but nowadays it’s about average and sometimes not worth it for the amount of work and convoluted policy you’re expected to know and understand. Policy is overly complicated. I love telework and that makes this job overall ok, but they have been dangling that over our heads for 4 years now. There is no certainty around telework when people have based their lives on this and to know it could change anytime is very unnerving. I’ve put off major life plans due to their toying with us about telework. There are constant changes in upper management and it seems major agency decisions are on their whim. In the name of “communication” and “transparency” we have monthly meetings or more, which only takes away time from our unrealistic workloads, yet get no workload relief for all the time upper management takes away with these ridiculous meeting and unnecessary trainings. The meetings aren’t even all that informative, just a bunch of “we’re a team” hyperbole. I could go on, but I’ll stop here.

Pros

If you want a job in federal service they are always pretty desperate, the pay isnt bad after a couple of pay scale promotions but that will take years

Cons

Work load, structure, incredibly understaffed throughout the whole agency
