Pros

Holidays off, but there are no other perks.

Cons

Piles of work, very poor training, traffic wreck micro managers, low pay on the same scale as paralegals with a high school education, do not pay law license fees or allow time off to even attend cle classes, chronic nepotism with best friends from college getting each other hired and giving each other high job evaluations....

Pros

The agency's lack of compassion towards employees and Congress's gridlock getting anything done in general, let alone SSA, makes this a terrible job.

Cons

Good government level pay, benefits and the ability to help people is what makes one want to stay.
