Pros

Minimal-to-no stress Telework is slowly but surely being made available

Cons

Your experience is completely dependent on your component, meaning each component (pretty much) makes up their own rules. Change is s-l-o-w There is a lot of room for growth if you don't want a management role

Pros

Flexibility to manage work life with family obligations is on par with other government agencies. Variety of work duties are above average especially if you get bored easily.

Cons

The agency seems to have a disdain for veterans and employees with non-physical disabilities. The agency needs to be more accepting to diversity. Most SSA offices do not represent the customers or community they serve which makes it easy for employees to become bias in how they process claims or the quality of service the public receives.
