Pros

The first thing I was told when I joined was the Salary. This is how they get you especially if you just got out of school withh loans that need to be repaid. The benefits are pretty good. I liked the TSP. I made some pretty good money there.

Cons

Lack of training. You get classroom type of training but it does not help out much dealing with the reality of pumping out application. You have people that don't deserve to be there but you still have to go through the motions of filling out the application because everything counts for "productivity points." As mentioned by others in this site, the people that work all their life and need a brake don't get it but the people with no social security (illegals applying for their children) get many benefits. It is a backwards welfare program that needs to be fixed but the people that work there, most of them at least, stay because they are in debt and they need the money. Some people would get stressed because they cared for the work and they would go home and cry. When I left I was told that perhaps I should seek help to help me cope with the stress. The supervisor mentioned that when she started out she used to cry but it only made her want to be that much better. I thought, yeah, okay, you have just made my decision that much easier. I quit.

Pros

It's a paycheck, co-workers can make the day better

Cons

Management treats employees like dirt, very stressful workload, you have no say in day-to-day tasks, rampant favoritism, promotion is dependent on how favored you are by management and not on how much work you do.
