Social Secuirty is a good place to work if you have great attention to detail and like helping people
Pros
Social Secuirty is a very challenging workplace. The amount of information one needs to assimilate is staggering, and dealing with the public is different everyday. It is never boring. I love the aspect of helping people out at difficult times in their lives. The benefits are fantastic. You get generous vacation time right away, good retirement, and almost never are forced to work overtime.
Cons
Many of the co-workers have been there for their entire career and are very intolerant of new people. They are not willing to help new employees out, and actually enjoy pointing out mistakes you make to management. Because of the proximity to the public, I was sick a lot. I think people may take off a sick day from work and then decide since they are home anyway to come to Social Security.
