Our focus is making it easy to do good, which means empowering our staff to help our 11,000 nonprofit clients make the world a better place. As you also noted, the secret to our success is our people, which is the number one reason both our staff and clients list as the reason they love us! Being in business since 1981, and having over 93% of clients stay with us year after year, helps us maintain our status as being well-known and trusted in the nonprofit community. We take great pride in our diversity. We have a Diversity and Inclusion committee, and we actively seek new ways of recruiting to ensure we’re casting the widest net possible for talented employees, including historically under-represented groups. Also, being 100% remote, we’re now able to hire throughout North America. Our goal has always been to hire the best people, and now more than ever, this group includes people from every walk of life - no matter how you define it. We’re not sure why you listed family members working here together under “Cons”, but we consider it a “Pro”. First, some readers may construe your comment as nepotism, so we should point out that none of the executive leadership have family in the business. That said, the fact that so many staff members feel so happy and fulfilled with their careers at SofterWare that they would actively refer their friends and family is something that we love and encourage. Also, one of the fun facts about SofterWare is something that happened naturally: that is how many people met their significant other while working together here! Lastly, we believe SofterWare offers a great salary and benefits package. We benchmark ourselves against other companies to make sure we are competitive with similar roles at similar companies. We provide annual salary increases to adjust for inflation, plus merit increases for those that earn them. In addition, we offer 401K matching, and something few other companies offer - monthly profit sharing! In addition, we have great benefits such as healthcare, paid time off and volunteer hours, professional development, and much more.       Good Company With Great Values

      Great company with great mission and values. Fair compensation packages and solid leadership.

      Cons

      Feels a bit behind the times and internal communication is busy and feels a bit frazzled. Progress is always taking place but seems to be at a very slow and steady pace. That being said this company has been around for a long time and slow and steady wins races!

Those are all things we take great pride in, and we’re so glad they are recognized and appreciated. We also appreciate your advice and other comments. Our VP of Development came on board just a few short years ago, and since then he has built an incredible team of developers from all over North America (and the world). Together with project management and other leaders, they developed a multi-year strategic plan for how to work and what to work on. He noted it will get faster with time, and we hope you’re now seeing this plan come to fruition. This year, many exciting new features and important technology and security updates are being released at an ever faster pace, while still maintaining the quality our clients have come to expect in our 40+ year history. The next couple years are going to be so exciting for our clients as we incorporate the latest tech, such as AI, to make their work lives even easier, and our products/services more powerful and useful in fulfilling their nonprofit’s mission. With regard to communication, we urge you to share with your manager more details on how we can better communicate internally. As you know, we have a monthly meeting every second Friday to share important department updates. We also use internal communication tools such as Slack and email to provide updates on product releases, new content for our clients and future clients, and changes staff need to know regarding our products and SofterWare news. We also have in-service days where the whole company gets together to ask questions of leadership, learn more and work together. All that said, we know we can always do better and continually strive to do so.       Great place to work

      The purpose of my position is to help others. Helping others that help the world be a better place is very satisfying. I feel valued in my job. The benefits are pretty decent (e.g. healthcare, PTO time). Communication is easy between colleagues, in my department and between departments. Technical support from IT staff is top notch. Someone is always willing to help, on the simplest problem or something more involved - with the patience of a saint! Communications for future plans is generally shared - sometimes we, the staff, want to know a bit more up front. The culture is very nice and inviting - fun and casual interactions built into the wallpaper of the Company. Great Company values supported through what we all do and the reasons behind things.

      Cons

      I wish my salary was higher (don't we all?). Pressure to meet deadlines and productivity levels - the stress, admittedly is self imposed.

We also offer both merit and COLA increases as your tenure continues to make sure we reward excellence, maintain competitiveness, and retain the best staff in the industry! We encourage a work/life balance (in fact, it’s one of the specific categories we were named best of in the Top Workplace awards), so if you feel deadlines and your workload are causing you personal stress, we encourage you to speak with your manager. We can work to accommodate your personal work/life balance. We can also provide additional ways, through our free Employee Assistance Program, to help you learn how to cope with stress, learn time management skills, and speak to professionals for other assistance. Lastly, we appreciate your advice to management about sharing more of a bigger picture. Our president, Lauren Sheehan, recently started sharing recaps of the executive meetings, and the members of the exec team share an update every quarter on the second Friday of the month on how the company is performing, goals, projects, etc. That said, we’ll pass your feedback on to the leadership team, since there is always more we can do to communicate more and better.
