Pros

The environment allows for individuals to operate in their strengths and collaborate with great people to positively impact the business. Career growth and professional development opportunities continue to improve. There is a strong emphasis on building teams and an inclusive spirit among departments. The entrepreneurial spirit which started the company is alive and well, and autonomy is embraced. Listens to and implements employee feedback.

Cons

Important internal communication is lacking at times. There are inconsistencies in the area of staff engagement in some departments. Lacks process and structure in some keys areas.

We have an amazing team of very talented employees that recognize, respect and support each other's strengths. In 2016, with the enhancements to our Professional Development Policy, each employee is encouraged to invest time to increase their knowledge as well as receiving reimbursement for their professional development. “We Collaborate as a Team” is one of our five Values, and we are glad to hear that you see us living this! We always welcome employee feedback through individual conversations, team discussions and surveys. Each department receives the feedback from the surveys so they can work together to address the ideas. We recently formed an Employee Engagement Committee with employees from our different teams who are energized to propel SofterWare’s success for the good of themselves, their colleagues, our clients, and ultimately the world. As you noted, communication is so important, and we are committed to improving processes and ways to be more open and keep everyone informed. Internal communication is an area that we continually improve by including information on our progress dashboards, Annual State of the Company Address, and Second Friday employee meetings. We listen to and learn from each other and we would love to talk with you about your ideas! Kathy

Pros

Softerware is all it's cracked up to be and more. I've been with the company for a little over 2 years and I'm still waiting for someone to pinch me. I've never worked for a company that cared so much about their employees. We are voted best place to work in Philly for a reason! Every single person I come in contact with whether it be managers, directors, executives they wall know my name and are always pleasant.

Cons

When I was first hired and going through the on-boarding process the amount of information and material that was thrown at me was a bit daunting. I was reassured by everyone that it would all click and it did

While we don’t promote pinching our staff, we appreciate the time you took to provide your feedback :) Based on feedback like yours, as well as the new position of the International Training and Professional Development Manager, we’ve already made changes to the onboarding process. We have all new staff meet with various departments within their first 3 months to see first hand how each department’s role fits into the bigger picture of SofterWare. We also extended the length of the time for the training schedule so it's not so overwhelming, and you have more time to get acclimated. We’ll continue to make improvements based on the great feedback we get (like yours).. We want to ensure onboarding is a “delightful” experience for all of our new staff joining our team. Thank you for making SofterWare a top workplace! Thank you! Kathy

Very Pleased with Career Decision

Pros

I was attracted by the opportunity to make a positive impact on a smaller organization like SofterWare and bring my experience to help build a department. The position was one of growth and opportunity but I had some reservations about how a company like SofterWare could *really* have such a positive corporate culture as was being evangelized by everyone I interviewed with. I can truly say however, after 9 months with the company, it’s all true! You will be challenged, asked for input on a regular basis and have the freedom to make recommendations that impact not only your department but the organization as a whole. To top it off, the culture is one that values every customer and employee, and fosters a collaborative work environment. The level of respect given to everyone within the organization is refreshing. I’ve witnessed several promotions not only within departments but across different lines of business – the opportunity is available for those who are motivated and focused. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join SofterWare.

Cons

I think the one area I struggled with initially was understanding the different lines of business and revenue streams. My role is in an operational capacity so having a clearer understanding earlier in my tenure would have helped focus my efforts to make a greater initial impact. However, given the culture here, everyone was more than willing to meet and share information so this concern was eventually eliminated.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we appreciate your feedback. We do have a wonderful culture here, and we have our staff to thank for that. Thanks also for pointing out an opportunity for us to better communicate to new staff the various products and services we have here at SofterWare. Some folks work with one of our specific product lines, while others (seems like you) support the whole company. We understand the importance of communicating the “big picture” of our company, and how it impacts our staff and our organization. There are various ways to learn about the vision of SofterWare. Our monthly company wide meetings, the State of the Company Address given annually by our CEO, the monitors throughout the office displaying company information, and more! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions, the door is always open! As you know, technology is always changing, and we want to provide our staff with the best resources to assist them with their responsibilities. If you have any suggestions of anything you feel could improve the experience for all of our team, I hope that you’ll stop in to discuss it, or even put the idea in our Employee User Voice. We truly value your feedback, and we’re always listening! Thank you! Kathy
