Pros

SolarCity is an incredibly innovative company, and a true social enterprise. They are leading the solar industry and revolutionizing the energy industry. SolarCity is always a step ahead of the competition and making big investments in renewable energy policy and technology. It would be difficult for me to work for another solar company, knowing SolarCity is out there kicking butt on all fronts. You can tell management cares about their employees, and the entire team does a great job to motivate each other and stay excited and proud of their work. You can always depend on your teammates to help you out. Because we're growing so fast, there is a lot of opportunity to move up in the ranks.

Cons

Operations team is a little disconnected from the sales team. Apparently we hire contractors and third party engineering teams to approve jobs which originally got disqualified, and nobody told me this. They also expect you to work long and hard hours, which is fine, but is exhausting with only 10 vacation days per year. I frequently work 7 days a week to try to meet quota, just to find out a lot of the jobs I sold have been disqualified by our engineering team.

Pros

Before SolarCity went public the work environment was progressive and fun. They really celebrated their employees and made sure we had every tool and training to succeed.

Cons

Once they went public it went down hill really quickly. Trying to cut costs at every end and treated employees like robots. They were firing entire departments with a couple hours notice and could care less about the well being of their employees.

Pros

Great product, great concept, great vision.

Cons

Unprofessional behavior by middle management. Verbally abusive and derogatory comments made about employees in the presence of new hires. A company as great is this should be more aware of the actions, attitudes and arrogant behavior of their sales managers. They speak down to the sales consultants as if they are children with verbal abuse and foul language. Common practice is to belittle a person as if they are not doing things correctly or ever enough.
