Pros

Great potential to grow and move into management or an outside consultant

Cons

When you start as a FES (Field Energy Specialist) you have to walk around all day at a home depot or best buy and just get appointments for FEC (Field Energy Consultant) so you are only pushing for appointments and dont really get to learn. You will need to go to additional training when you become an FEC and need to qualify by having at least 30 appointments that actually get an install of a system. Also, even meet your goal it is not guarantee you will be moved up to FEC. Base is low for the work as an FEC. You will work nights and weekends.

Pros

SolarCity is definitely changing the world in a positive way and I fully support their mission and their product. They provide good benefits, generous compensation and their company culture, although at times a bit cheesy, is for the most part positive.

Cons

In Colorado, the SolarCity management is an absolute joke. Management is constantly changing policies and sales goals on a whim, without giving lower level employees any time to adjust. The timeline for promotions was constantly changing and false expectations and promises were often made by mid level managers. In my time, SolarCity was able to bring in top notch talent but the scattered management style was so discouraging that most talented people ended up leaving within 1 year.
