Pros

There is a very energetic culture and it is a great product. The company is growing quickly and there are ample opportunities for personal income and advancement for top performers. The company provides good health benefits and even stock options for referring other employees.

Cons

The same enthusiastic energy can become cultish at times. Joking about worshiping "our god and savior Ra" (The company "mascot" is Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun), calling the mid-atlantic team the "maniacs" and using pictures of Jack Nicholson from The Shining to represent the region at company events (where Nicholson plays a demon influenced, psychotic MURDERER!), and often encouraging work all hours of the day, 7 days per week. Some people might really like these characteristics (it sure beats a dead-end, boring job where people are all clock-watchers), but most people with a four-year college degree (in anything other than the humanities) may often feel more like they're a part of Amway, or other MLM, rather than a professional corporation.

Pros

Strong pay and good opportunities if you consider yourself a savvy salesman.

Cons

Management, my manager promised to move me from a shopping mall location for months without ever giving me that opportunity. All my other coworkers worked at Home Depots

Pros

When you work for Solar City you are in the fast lane for sure! Good software platforms.

Cons

It will take 5-6 months to start earning commission above the base salary. The leads from Home Depot.Best Buy have 15% closing rate. The actual "pull through" rate ( those that go to install) is 40% less. If you have10 leads 1.5 will be sold .9 will be installed. You will get paid 3-5 months after first sale. The company really doesn't put much emphasis on closing ratio. Reps up to May of 2015 earned $20 panel ( co leads) $40 panel (self generated leads). After May the commission was reduced 25%.tp $15 and $32.5. panel. New panels will hit the market 2016 and are 25% more efficient. Federal tax credits are set to expire in 14 mos. To cover the tax credits that will expire the compensation will be reduced and the number of panels dropping the compensation will drop as well. With recent changes and reduced panels compensation will effectively be down 50% by end of 2016. Company does not match 401K.
