Pros

Nothing to quote. Highly unstable and you never know what might happen and when. Run away from this company if you receive an offer.

Cons

They suck the juice out of you and throw you out.

Cons

So many where to begin: Management: Saying management is lacking would be the nicest way to put it. Management is trash! this company has a bunch of loser 20 year olds running it who have zero life experience, little professional experience and no knowledge on how to behave in a professional environment which is one of the reasons why we waste so much of our time doing "special projects" cleaning up a mess we made and of course wasting the time of clients because SC has no idea what they're doing. The installers have little to no experience on roofs and cause more damage than good, They also talk like uneducated idiots. The people at the office is where the management really lags behind and they treat their staff like children. I walked by this poster board with stars on it and the idiot manager was putting stars next to "TOP PERFORMERS" names. I didn't know adults did stars, I thought we were adults, not children in primary school... needless to say the place is demoralizing and if you just started there, start finding a better job now because they're moving jobs to mexico and not hiring in Nevada anymore! Yes that's right, they've been laying people off who they can't get to quit and they're asking people to quit so they don't have to pay them unemployment. another thing, they've been gutting departments at HQ and "merging" them with other existing departments... essentially you're still getting paid really crap pay and doing twice the work and you're not even getting rewarded for it! this is the solar city way! Just don't even bother working for this failure of a company. They're losing money constantly, elon musk is a joke, they're getting their butts kicked by NV energy and they treat their employees really badlly. I was fortunate enough to find a better job before getting out of this dump. oh and everyone there pretty much makes 12 bucks an hour. The managers can make up to about 55 or 60. I got a job that is entry level that makes more than the assistant managers.... no room for growth... I applied myself and participated in all the extra stuff to do there and got zero recognition for my work. Solar City is no good

Working in San Mateo HQ

Pros

- We are doing really important big things here and are the best positioned in the industry to change the world for the better. - We react to the market and innovate to stay ahead. It's never a boring day here and we take a lot of pride in our work. - Most people are pretty friendly and the corporate culture is overall positive - The company is still small enough that you personally can make a difference. If you want to drive change and work hard enough you can do it.

Cons

- Ridiculous parking situation at HQ. Get ready to add 30-45 min to your commute every day to take shuttles running to and from an off-site parking lot at the college of San Mateo, or pay $100 a month to park near the building (when permits are even available). The crazy thing about that is they just opened a 6-story parking garage in our complex that is almost half empty! It's just sitting there half vacant because SolarCity doesn't value their employees time enough to negotiate use of it with the landlord. - The CFO has a philosophy that unless someone's job responsibility changes, their salaries shouldn't change either. That means no annual raises even when the cost of living drastically increases every year in this area. If you are in a position without much upward mobility, get ready to effectively earn less every year because cost of living adjustments aren't considered by management. This is at least for all areas of the company reporting to the CFO (Accounting, Finance, Fund Accounting, etc)... not sure about other areas. - No 401(k) matching. - Free snacks are mostly cereal and other sugary candy. The lunch service has also really gone down hill in quality and up in price since the vendor we had a year ago. - When upper management wants to do something, they do it, often jumping into things too quickly or pushing for unrealistic deadlines. Warnings from below are often ignored.
