The People are Great

Pros

During the interview process I asked each person what they liked most about working for SolarCity and they all answered, "The people." They were correct - - except for a few odd encounters, the majority of the people are amazing. The company is also Sales focused, which is terrific if you are in Sales.... that team tends to get all of the cool stuff like technology, training, uniforms, etc.

Cons

The company seems to struggle with budgets, forecasting, and process. Rules or guidelines for expenses for example seem to be lacking or overlooked for some. Not all leaders act with the same moral compass as the founders.

Pros

Great potential for earning. Fast paced. Compnay going public.Green industry.

Cons

Peter principal in full effect. Raising people to their highest level of incompetency. My manager has no idea what it means to coach and mentor you to higher achievement. Only how to be critical and not be envolved with you at any level until the "numbers" were going to hurt him. Then you are out!

Great learning environment,

Pros

Great learning environment with loads of talent to gravitate and learn from.

Cons

Salaries are low compared to other industries, and yes their is definently favoritism, even though it's low key. Great company, sometimes hailed as yuppievile. This advice goes to a young upcoming manager--I would say stay awhile, learn as much as you can, and go somewhere else to make the big money. The company will make it big time, but who want's to wait, if you got the skills knowledge and ability!
