Pros

Good compensation if you work hard Decent coworkers Company car once you've demonstrated your worth You're the master of your destiny here, sell well and sell often and you shall be championed Some managers really care about you and your progress but at the end of the day you're just another employee with a quota

Cons

Typical sales organization Company changes direction often with little or no notice Not much job security, fear tactics often used High turnover Company currently having financial issues In some ways SolarCity is a good ol'boys club, but I believe they are making changes to avoid such a label Deceptive sales tactics and marketing This job will test you be prepared for lots of highs and lots of lows

Pros

Provided a decent base hourly wage for doing little to nothing, however, the entire organization is based on the carrot and stick mentality so it doesn't last long.

Cons

The organization has an overwhelming number of layers. Information does not flow freely and it seems like the less front line employees know the better. The company makes money when consumers make quick decisions without information and thinking the purchase through fully. "Corporate kool-aid" abounds and those that consume it succeed. Business model is suspiciously close to a pyramid scheme.

Pros

The company is innovative and is providing a beneficial product. The executive management team is comprised of very intelligent people.

Cons

They do not offer raises based on merit. The only way to make more money is to get promoted, which is unfortunate for they fantastic individual contributors who do not want a management role. They do not advance good people into director roles, but instead hire from outside of the company. Promotions are based on favoritism rather than hard work, reliability and intelligence. Management allows inappropriate behavior with their favorites. Managers come and go as they please, and are not held accountable for their work (or lack thereof). As long as they dial in for a conference call, it appears that they are working. There is no accountability for management in this department. Those promoted to manager roles are not equipped for the job; they lack maturity, training, and experience to lead a large group. Because of poor management, they hire very immature people who do not understand what a professional work environment is. There is way too much drama that is encouraged by management. Great employees get taken advantage of, become burnt out and wind up leaving.
