An auto-dialer could do the sales role....
Pros
Money can be decent Nice new building Free lunch twice a week
Cons
Mindless sales role, where any type of independent thoughts or strategies outside of the company 'sales model' is not only discouraged but actively punished by drone-like middle management. Absolutely NO ROOM for any type of growth or career development. Just pick up the phone, dial and smile... but you can't smile, when all you do all day is jam 50% discounts down customers throats and push them to purchase sooner than later. After reading this last sentence you're probably smart enough to realize that jamming a 50% discount down their throat to make them purchase would quickly lose its effect after multiple attempts... and it does... the only thing the useless 'discount for timeframe' model does do well is devalue the product and also turn the customer off ever buying again... and if they do buy, the buy it whenever they want and demand the discount you have offered them for 15 weeks in a row inline with whatever BS story that can be made up to make 'this' discount sound credible. Management in large are a bunch of entitled 'pre IPOrs' who think they are wayyyyyyyyyyy better than they actually are.... a general feel of 'my way is always right, I cannot ever be wrong, none of you will ever sell as well as I did when I was a rep' from management is ever present and constantly vocalized in meetings. Micromanagement is ridiculous.... Done 150% this quarter? If you haven't made 50 calls on the day that isn't going to matter... you'll be micromanaged over anything the very binary management can come up with to maintain a sense of superiority that they in truth do not actually have - and know it deep down. Employee quality - there are some smart people here. But over the last year or two, the quality of hires has dropped dramatically... No degree? Felony? FELONIES? Worked as a server before this job and don't know what a computer is? No worries... come on in... no skill required here... just drink the kool aid, dial and tolerate the management abuse. Employee abuse - bad month? Expect to get abused... but not just by your immediate manager - by the directors, the VPs and even the CEO as he strides around the floor yelling, yes YELLING "Sell more!! Sell something!!!" to anyone within earshot... in short, it really blows. No loyalty or sense of job security...
