Pros

- Good pay for call center work - After you are off contract to hire they will allow work from home when the weather is bad (which with Michigan winters is a great thing) - Once you prove you can do the job no one really micromanages you.

Cons

- knowledge base is hard to navigate so if you don't already know the answers to the questions you get on call you will likely have to wait for someone else in the department to help you which leads to awkward/tense calls from customers - May be expected to support new products without adequate training or additional compensation. - Tech department is terribly understaffed and they can't keep people so expect to have to pick up a lot of calls as a result of that. - Training's for new products don't really give you practical knowledge that helps you take calls on those products. - Once you run out of PTO you are not allowed to take unpaid time, so respect for work life balance leaves something to be desired. - Everyone in the department has very low morale and the company does not seem interested in fixing it so it made going in everyday very depressing. - No upward mobility unless you are a favorite of a manager.

Pros

It was, overall a good work environment. The future always seemed cloudy, since the software was late in its life-cycle. Management was grappling with how to migrate to more current technology. Many of the developers there felt they were making to wrong decisions, and we would not be considered.

Cons

The company moved its development perations to Texas, and essentially restaffed. Much of the existing development staff did what they could to retrain people, but it was hard, since relatively little in-person training was done. They also saw one of the advantages of moving to Texas as a money-saving move, and part of that was trying to hire programmers to replace the Portland staff without regard to the systems already in place. This meant hiring people to write the new system at bargain rates, probably to junior to fill the roles needed. The current system would be maintained by consultants, probably at premium cost, cutting into whatever savings they were planning on, at least in the short and medium term.

Benefits that gives the will to the employee to work his best. They offer wellbeing sessions during your lunchtime or languages sessions. Good work/life balance.
