Pros

Solera has a handful of managers that are passionate about what they do and try to do it to the best of their ability. They usually use the most up to date technology to provide the best access for their customers.

Cons

I came to Solera via purchasing a company called Identifix over 2 years ago. Identifix had the issue of not seeing itself as a tech company and trying to do things on the cheap. Solera has changed that approach but in the process has created a culture here that can be toxic. After being here for over 2 years and never getting a raise, I started looking for a new job and found one. Management decided they wanted to keep me and asked to match. The counter offer offer came in at 10% below what my new offer came in at. On top of that, when I put in my 2 weeks notice I was informed my pay raise was rescinded. On top of that most of the decisions on how to run the IT side of things are currently being made by the European team that has a different product line that doesn't match what we have in the US. When I think of Solera Management, I think of a bad high school athletic coach. Creating competition for competition sake. No communication comes from the top down and there is times you feel like a man in a boat with no rudder.

Pros

The work environment is very good, food is provided for everyone, gym and very good benefits, well-paid, the projects are very interesting and challenging and the people who you work with are very helpful and really know their stuff. You're not expected to stay after 4 pm so you can have a very good work/life balance.

Cons

It's too far away from Dallas and they're moving even farther away in a year or so.

Pros

I am seriously unaware of any pros of working here when I did work here.

Cons

The holy trinity (people, process, technology) are all broken in this environment. People: There are people in leadership roles that they should not be in and they are taking advantage of the "power" of those roles by acting inappropriately most all of the time (e.g. swearing to one another, I have heard it; disregarding any meetings with your direct reports, I was ignored). There is little/no clear communication. Most communication is that game you played in kindgergarten called "telephone" where a varied answer is received from the last kid. Most disturbing, beyond all of that, is the complete lack of humble leadership. It's one thing to not "have all the answers" (nobody should), but nobody can admit that they don't and seek advice from others in the company or external third parties. Every great leader is a humble leader. Process: So much time is wasted on process here that it's beyond laughable. It was like 80% of the time was about trying to orchestrate the work, while 20% was doing the work. Wrong! This is quite frustrating. Technology: The solutions created here are done and redone and done and redone, and are also not excellent. You will feel like you're in that Bill Murray movie, "Groundhog's Day." These solutions will be obsolete quickly as other innovations in the industry come along, and they will. It's not fun working in an environment with solutions are ill-conceived, also given the complete lack of executive alignment. What does this company want to be? What is it marching towards in 6 months? 1 year? Who really knows? Other asides: There have been no reviews (read: or raises) for a long time (read: years). The vacation used to be unlimited, but now is capped and limited. If you are a talented, smart, hard-working person, the grass is greener elsewhere, by a football field! Please seek greener pastures. There is nothing here...flip Atmosphere by Joy Division, and just walk away in silence. Have a wonderful life, yes, being employed somewhere else!
