Pros

Can't think of one damn thing. Base salary was good. Stock grants were cool (if you stayed long enough to vest). People were nice enough, if not constantly afraid of losing their jobs following the next quarterly review meetings.

Cons

I was there when it was a publicly held company. Aside from the idiotic Pareto Principle posters that adorned the office, there was a fair bit of dysfunction and ethically dubious behavior. Dysfunction took the form of constantly changing leadership, political shenanigans to demonstrate your "toughness" and a militaristic culture which I found somewhat bemusing given I served and the CEO who fosters and reinforces this culture did not. My impression of him was that of a SPECOP groupie or an arm chair general The ethically questionable behavior manifested itself during each quarterly review. Aside from the brutal tongue lashings and abusive behavior from the CEO; While making promises to The Street to deliver double digit organic growth and profitability (which the company more or less achieved each quarter) it seemed to me to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors, given the number of layoffs that followed after each quarterly review and before every earnings call. In other words, while achieving their top line growth numbers (Revenue), they manipulated expenses (from the Human Capital line of the budget); cut staff left and right; and then would start on a new hiring binge at the beginning of every quarter.

Solera Response

Our associates are definitely a pro to working at Solera and the Company works diligently to reward the efforts of employees not only through a stellar total rewards program but also uncommon career growth potential. Solera is made up of an army of volunteers that fully believe in the mission and are passionate about the culture of innovation, which leads to Solera's great position in the market. Though the environment is fast paced, fluid, and performance driven, all associates are encouraged to take ownership of their work/life balance and the company provides outstanding benefits and perks to support it.

Pros

Solera has a handful of managers that are passionate about what they do and try to do it to the best of their ability. They usually use the most up to date technology to provide the best access for their customers.

Cons

I came to Solera via purchasing a company called Identifix over 2 years ago. Identifix had the issue of not seeing itself as a tech company and trying to do things on the cheap. Solera has changed that approach but in the process has created a culture here that can be toxic. After being here for over 2 years and never getting a raise, I started looking for a new job and found one. Management decided they wanted to keep me and asked to match. The counter offer offer came in at 10% below what my new offer came in at. On top of that, when I put in my 2 weeks notice I was informed my pay raise was rescinded. On top of that most of the decisions on how to run the IT side of things are currently being made by the European team that has a different product line that doesn't match what we have in the US. When I think of Solera Management, I think of a bad high school athletic coach. Creating competition for competition sake. No communication comes from the top down and there is times you feel like a man in a boat with no rudder.
