If you point out their mistakes, they will look for any small slip-up on your end to put you down. The spineless incumbent management fears the wrath of the HR department, so they lick their boots and do anything to avoid conflict with them. This results in a extremely toxic work environment where progress is seldom made because if HR doesn't like who is advocating for positive change, they will make that change impossible.
