Pros

Having worked for several companies in my years in the APP field, I am most impressed with Sounds willingness to work with the APP's and really encourage them to expand their knowledge, push the boundaries (safely) of our abilities and recognize that we are important members of the care provider team. I feel as though I am treated as an equal and my physician colleagues recognize that we (APPS) are teachable, excited to learn and grow within this field. I genuinely feel like a true partner when sitting with my physician colleagues.

Cons

I am most disappointed in their retirement plan for their employees.

Thank you for sharing so openly here about your experience. I'm delighted to hear you feel valued as an advanced practice provider and clinician, and that you're treated as an equal partner in our practice. Thank you for bringing better care to our patients, and for being an essential and important part of your team – and of Sound overall. There are many ways to feel valued in the workplace, and I agree that benefits is one of those ways. We're currently looking at our benefits offerings and how we might enhance them. While this isn't an immediate answer, please know it's on our radar. Meantime, if you have additional input you'd like to share, you can reach out to belong@soundphysicians.com. Very grateful for your feedback and for your place on our team. - April Burke, Vice President, Advanced Practice Providers

First and foremost, thank you for all you do as a clinical performance nurse. You're essential to our patients, and we're lucky to have you! It's heartening to know you feel heard and that your experience matches our vision for true team camaraderie and genuine support of one another. As for compensation, it's something we look at regularly, and I'd love to know more of your perspective. If you'd like to share, let's get another Chat with Cat on the books soon. — Catherine Abshire, Chief Nursing Officer

Pros

Sound Critical Care recruits those truly dedicated to the practice of Critical Care Medicine. Our group is made up of a variety of physicians and APPs with wide backgrounds and specialties (anesthesia, internal medicine, pulmonary, research, etc.), creating a team environment where we can all lend our own expertise to collaborate, especially important in challenging cases or in times of stress. Our schedules are flexible and it is easy to switch shifts with other team members as needed. Plenty of opportunities for teaching, advancement and leadership growth if desired. Overall, a great place to work.

Cons

Work/life balance is really dependent on your shift count and how efficient you are as a worker. You can choose to work extra shifts per month, but you’ll be at high risk of burnout, as expected from working in an ICU environment. Our team is working on it, but our census can also run very high, leading to long days.
