Pros

Worked as a NP hospitalist in varying roles. Got along well with administrative staff at headquarters, when I started, was a small home grown company. My interview consisted of meeting all the management including CEO at their Tacoma headquarters. I was recruited away a couple of times, at the last minute one of the employers appeared to develop some staff instability and I returned to Sound to work for a new program. Had some medical needs and wanted to be closer to home (had been commuting every other week to the other sites) and took a position and in the middle of the offer Sound bought the company out, but management was supportive and allowed me to make the transfer. Fast forward after 4 years with the company, am shown the door. New senior management, the program has a lot of turnover. I miss some of the folks who were initially hospitalists and made their way to management, they had integrity and were supportive from a clinical standpoint. Felt I learned a lot from them. I was actually involved in extracurricular activities such as helping to develop a palliative care conversation educational component, but that ended abruptly. Unfortunately corporate medicine has turned out to create a very hostile work environment for many of us who simply want to take care of patients with care, safety and compassion.

Cons

See above, they have lost their soul.

Pros

Absolutely no pros for this company!

Cons

Worst company ever. From the benefits to management. NP's beware! Worst experience. The recruiter will quote you a salary, then make the contract shady and short you out of $6,000/year. None of the physicians have any idea what a NP can do. Treat you like glorified nurses. Just an overall poor management. The chief hospitalist I worked with made sure you were aware his time was way more important than yours. I couldn't wait to be finished with my employment there. I was treated so poorly, along with the other NP's I worked with.
